Item Classification Help
Ok, any help would be appreciated to clarify this issue,
Items are either White, Blue, Purple, Green or Gold (I believe) Starting with White (the worst), what is the order of quality? Is green or gold the best? And what are they called?.... Rare, Unique etc Also, do they all drop randomly?.. or are there only certian areas / monsters that can drop particular items. Many Thanks |

White is just a normal weapon without any modifiers (mods).
Blue is either a weapon with low-level mods or a white weapon that has been upgraded with mods. Purple is a weapon with mid-range mods. Adding mods to a weapon doesn't turn it purple. Gold - also defined by ingame text as rare - is a weapon with high-range or max mods. Green is a weapon with max (or near max for the +energy rods) mods that is only found by killing bosses in Grenth's Footprint or Sorrow's Furnace. A list of bosses and their green items is found here. There are certain models of weapons and items that only drop from certain enemies in certain areas, but as for the color, pretty much anyone will drop anything, except for the aforementioned greens. |

White, Blue, Purple, is the order for those three, and no one will dispute that. There is question as to whether or not gold or green items are better though. Gold will drop randomly from monsters and have random upgrades. However, you can modify a gold item so that it suits you. A green item will drop only from a specific boss monster and have specific (perfect) stats. However, you can't change the mods on a green weapon, so if no green suits your needs, then gold is the way for you to go.
